Wing was built by the team at Wing Cloud (formerly Monada), a company founded by Elad Ben-Israel and Shai Ber. The company has since shut down, but the language lives on as a free, MIT-licensed open source project.

Wing is free and open source under the MIT License. The best way to build great tools is together with the people who use them, so the source, the roadmap and the discussion all happen in the open on GitHub.
Built by tool builders
Wing was created by engineers who had spent years building cloud infrastructure tooling — the AWS CDK, CDK for Kubernetes, jsii and projen among them — and wanted a language that treated the cloud as a first-class citizen.
A global community
Contributors are spread around the world, so collaboration is public and asynchronous. Anyone can read the discussions, open an issue or send a pull request.
Built in the open
Design decisions, RFCs and roadmap items live in the public repository, where they can be read, questioned and shaped by anyone using the language.
Anyone can contribute
Wing is maintained by the people who use it. Whether it is a bug report, a documentation fix or a new standard library resource, contributions of every size are welcome.
